I thought this was kind of neat: recently, I started adding a small amount of pink Himalayan or Redmond real salt to my water bottle.
There’s been a noticeable decrease in the amount of water I need to drink: I drink about half the amount of water.
The other interesting thing is that I almost never have to get up to go to the bathroom at night, or far less frequently – which for me has always been at least two or three times a night, since I was a kid. I know, I know. I didn’t realize, but looking back it was the dairy.
Sometimes in the morning I also add a shot of ACV; this jump starts the stomach acid, which has a number of benefits ranging from better immune protection, to lower blood sugar.
Something I found fascinating: I’ve always detested ice cold water. But I found that if my water has salt in it, I prefer it – no, I REALLY prefer it – ice cold.. Interesting. I have no idea why.
Another side note: I can’t really explain why, but this is different even than drinking water and then eating a pinch of salt. I’ve done the latter for a long time, on keto and fasting and such. For whatever reason, having the salt dissolved in the water makes all the difference.
*note: I’ve noticed that the salt can make the water bottle rusty on the bottom. Not sure what to do about this; probably just don’t let it sit overnight; let it dry? I’ll figure it out.
